Full system refresh, restore and upgrade







WHAT TO EXPECT

  1. We will begin by checking the computer/laptop for the type of hard drive it has installed
    1. If the device has a mechanical hard drive (also known as a HDD or Hard Disk Drive) we will inform you and we would recommend you to upgrade the hard drive to a SSD (Solid State Drive). This will help the device with the new Operating System, and will noticeably speed the computer/laptop up.
  2. Once we verified what type of hard drive the device has, or once we install the SSD, we will begin the formatting process.
    1. Formatting is the process of deleting everything in the hard drive and then installing a new, fresh version of Windows/MacOS.
    2. If you need any documents/pictures from the hard drive, please tell our associates. They will recommend a Data Retrieval Package for your device.
      1. HOWEVER, depending on the severity of virus, this may be impossible or a risk to your newly formatted laptop/computer.
  3. Once the process is complete, we first run a few test to see if the device will handle the new OS in an acceptable manner.
  4. Once our Techs feel as though the device is smoothly handling the change, we will then begin install/update software known as "drivers".
    1. Drivers are pieces of software that control how the computer/laptop handles the physical hardware that it has installed. For example, the device will know that it has a graphic card, but won't be able to use it properly without having the knowledge to do so. The driver software essentially acts as that knowledge, which allows the device to use the graphic card to it's fullest potential.
  5. Once all drivers are installed/updated, we will then update the Operating System.
  6. Our Techs will then run a few more tests on the device after these updates.
  7. We will then authenticate the Operating System
  8. After which, we will then proceed to the final step. We will install essential programs onto the computer/laptop
  9. After running a few, final tests, and seeing that the device properly boots up. We will then contact you for pickup/delivery.
